October 2026
Last week I sat in on my son’s seventh-grade class as every student answered the question for their social studies unit: who am I in my community? Each of them talked about how lucky they are to live in Jackson and how not everyone gets to live here. I am running for those children and their future here, because many of their families are already doing the math on staying.
Many of us work two and three jobs to make it here, and every month rent, groceries, and childcare take a bigger share of what we earn. When we come up short, we cut back or put it on a credit card, and the teachers, nurses, and first responders we count on are making the same hard calculation.
Town Hall has added to that pressure. Last December the Town identified a $2.7 million budget gap, and it keeps covering shortfalls with higher taxes and fees that land on the same families. Our building rules have favored big hotels over local businesses and mansions over homes for working people. If nothing changes, the children in that classroom will grow up and build their lives somewhere else.
I keep working until the job is done. In 2020 you elected me to the Town Council, where I served on boards for housing and health, the Fair and the Chamber of Commerce, and climate and equity. And, the Mayor and Council thanked me for four years of service in Resolution 25-02. There is more work to do.
In 2024, speaking to my colleagues on the Council and the Commission, I unequivocally called for us to restart the Virginian housing process because I saw where it was heading, and the other nine elected officials moved ahead. I kept working on it after I left office, and this July the bad deal ended with nothing signed, after two years of staff time and public money the restart I called for would have saved.
I build consensus when it moves us forward, and I hold my ground when the Council is heading the wrong way. I know that left some of you with questions, and I want to answer them in person and earn your trust. Text or call me at 307.249.6565.
My plan
- Rewrite the Land Development Regulations so our rules favor local homes and businesses.
- Bring in a municipal finance expert to balance our budget before asking us to pay more.
- Put experienced negotiators across from developers so every project benefits us.
Town Council is a nonpartisan seat, and how the Town spends our money and plans our future affects every one of us, so I will work for all of Jackson. I am still running for women and for the girls who need to see role models at the front of the room.
